John Pyner

John Pyner, b. Pre 1600, d. 1626

John, a husbandman of St Melans (map of St Mellons) in the county of Monmouth made his will on the 9th of January 1626 and died before the 18th of January.  His estate was worth over 30 pounds, a large sum in those days.  It consisted of 14 cattle, a colt, household 'stuffe' and monies owed to him.  He left several bequests over one pound to churches at Marshfield, St Mellons, and St Brides, and some money to nephews and cousins.

His nephews were Edmond Rees of St Brides and Morgan John of St Brides.  There was a niece called Grace John, and two cousins dwelling at Porsett.  There were also bequests to David Wm of St Mellons and Thomas Wm John of St Mellons.

His wife was Gwenlian, and she was made one of the executors.
